The Dream Dance 85 is in the starting blocks, its high time to take a closer look at the tracklist. After so many issues, it still says Episode of the Dolphin and the loyal fans of the Dream Dance series, do so even today diligently. Whether this is a pity or a stroke of luck for this compilation, lets go there, because apart from the well-known tracks, it is certainly much harder to sell plenty of units. Lets just take a look at the tracklist of the Dream Dance 85, because that's where it all comes down to. Whether the Dream Dance series will still reach the 100th edition is certainly questionable given the current situation in the music market, but as far as we want to look, we do not want to look at it. For many years the Dream Dance series did not have the big Komerz tracks, but that's different now.

Drake has revealed the tracklist for his new album Scorpion, which is slated for a June 29 release via Young Money-Cash Money. It features Michael Jackson, Ty Dolla $ign, and Static Major. The tracklist includes the single Im Upset, as well as Nice for What and Gods Plan. Theres even a song called Ratchet Happy Birthday. Drake featured JAY-Z and Kanye West on an early version of his track Pop Style. When it appeared on his album weeks later, though, theyd been removed. He later told Zane Lowe, I just ended up going with my version of that song. JAY-Z paid homage to Drake when he performed in Toronto as part of his 4:44 tour; he rapped over Drakes track Know Yourself. Check out the 25-song tracklist, which is split into two sides, below. Memphis Soul isnt the same thing as Southern soul, which tends to be gritty and earthy. Memphis soul is a little more stylish, a little more uptown -- but unlike other uptown soul genres, like Chicago soul, it rarely makes concessions to pop. And, while it is certainly smooth, it's not as light as sweet soul. It's stylish and funky, classy but soulful. Some clubs remained open and there was still a collectors' market for the singles, and many rare singles were going for astonishingly high prices. Most importantly, many clubgoers! Despite its a cappella origins, few doo wop records were made without instrumental backing. Doo wop faded away in the early 60s, though its influence was felt throughout popular music in the following decades.

Strut present the first ever compilation series to access the archives of one of the greatest of all French Caribbean labels, Disques Debs out of Guadeloupe. Set up by the late Henri Debs during the late 50s, the label and studio has continued for over 50 years, covering styles varying from early biguine and bolero to zouk and reggae. Debs played a pivotal role in bringing the creole music of Guadeloupe and Martinique to a wider international audience. Volume 1 of this series marks the first decade of the labels existence and takes in big band orchestras, home-grown stars. Early releases were recorded in the back of Henri’s shop in Pointe-a- Pitre, from his own sextet playing percussive biguines to young saxophonist Edouard Benoit, leader of Les Maxels and regular arranger for Debs bands.

Grammy award winning DJ & producer Louie Vega has a new album on the way. Titled ‘NYC Disco‘, the record is set to be out soon on Nervous Records. The NYC House legend has announced to host an exclusive album promo party at a special event organised by Liverpool Disco Festival in collaboration with Hustle in Liverpool on April. The event will see Vega playing an extended set of both disco & house classics and exclusive tracks from his upcoming release. The venue is still TBA. The compilation will come out on June 29th via Nervous Records. Vega, as one half of Masters At Work and several other projects under other names, was a foundational artist on Nervous, which took control of the Sam Records catalogue in the mid 90s.
